Australian Institute of Architects Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing Award – 2012
The fluid and expressive form of the building is a response to the client’s desire to provide a distinctive new apartment and townhouse development that will be sought after by a diverse range of people who are seeking a unique and design driven experience. The forms of the apartments at the rear are a response to the constrained street frontage of the block and the DCP setback controls which had the potential to keep the building in the rear zone, hidden from view from the street. By “pulling” part of the apartment building forward, the rear building provides a better address to Hampton Circuit. Internal spaces are free-flowing and flexible, allowing for multiple layouts and uses and spilling out into courtyard environments.
